The Avalon Newcastle project includes multiple buildings in a phased development. Served as contract building official and plans examiner for the city of Newcastle for review and construction management of this project. Building 3A is a 450,000 s.f., 5 story mixed-use building with ground-level retail and 254 apartments that wrap around a 5-story garage with 434 parking spaces. This complex design incorporated five fire walls, pressurized stairs used for story increase, an outdoor pool, and amenity spaces. This project required review and approval of six code alternates. Plumbing and mechanical reviews were subcontracted out to Rainbow Consulting and the concrete portion of the structure was subcontracted to Reid Middleton. A limited electrical review was provided by our contract employee to verify compliance with city-adopted electrical provisions.
