Plan review of this 3,500 s.f. extensive remodel of an existing retail building for the city of Newcastle. $1.3 million interior tenant improvement that included a change of occupancy. Exterior walls were modified and the exterior envelope revised. Structural revisions included a new foundation for the vault and a new entry roof structure. Due to the location of the building on the site, rated exterior wall protection was needed. Acting in the role of contract building official, a site visit and meeting with the contractor, architect, and engineer, was necessary to evaluate solutions for existing field conditions that were not initially considered in the design.
