Pacific Tower amazon.com
SEATTLE, WA
In 2001, supported the city of Seattle in an alliance with Reid Middleton, Inc. in providing earthquake recovery and response following the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake. Pacific Tower (then called the Amazon.com Building) had sufficient damage that required repair. In 2013, assisted the architectural firm, Schreiber Starling & Lane, in assessing existing building conditions by evaluating existing drawings and making field observations to determine the life-safety conditions that were deficient related to current code requirements. The existing historic Art Deco style building was originally constructed in 1933 as the Seattle Marine Hospital with several expansions thereafter. The building currently encompasses 260,000 s.f. over 16 levels. A code evaluation report was provided which outlined current Seattle Building Code requirements and our observations/deficiencies which were incorporated into the architect’s report to the Washington State Department of Commerce.
