Complete structural (managed structural review, completed portions of it), nonstructural, and barrier-free review of an existing building that combined 41,300 s.f. of artist studios, retail and apartments of Type IV-HT construction. The review consisted of a substantial alteration that encompassed earthquake repair valued at $3.1 million. This project required applying specific Seattle code interpretations and code alternates approved by Seattle staff and the DCLU Code Committee and meetings with the architect, engineer, and DCLU staff to come up with a viable code solution for this complex 5-story building in Pioneer Square.
