Aegis Gardens is a 5-story senior housing community qualifying as an assisted living facility containing 110 units including 21 memory care units as well as activity spaces, common spaces, and exterior courtyards. The activities wing contains a daycare and the main lobby includes an atrium. The 133,000 s.f. building has a portion that is a 1-story concrete podium with 4 stories of combustible construction above separated from a 2-story structure by a fire wall. Served as contract building official and plans examiner for the city of Newcastle for review and construction management of this project. Plumbing and mechanical reviews were subcontracted out to The Greenbush Group and the structural portion of the concrete structure and 2-story building were subcontracted to Reid Middleton.
